Welcome home Piper Jane!!! Piper was born Tuesday morning April 29, 2008 at 7:19. She weighed 8 lbs and 4 oz and was 21 1/2 inches long. Cam and I arrived at the hospital a little after 1:00 that morning and everything went well. I was sooo fortunate to have a dear friend who works as a nurse at the hospital and she was there for me the entire time! I was also very fortunate to go into labor the same day my friend Anna had her baby Jack:). Piper is the perfect addition to the family. The boys are so excited about their little sister. Poor Andrew went to the doc today and they said he had strep throat, which I guess is what I've had over the past week. We're both on antibiotics. Here are some pics from the hospital. We hope to take some cute pics of her tomorrow at home.... Check out her first pics from the hospital on Web Nursery:)
We've got germs!! I've been sick for about 5-6 days with a really, really bad sore throat which has now become really bad congestion. I've drank enough herbal tea with honey to keep the tea makers in business. I knew I wasn't going to get any sleep last night so I decided to go ahead and call in. I'm so glad I did because about 2:30 Andrew comes to our room burning up with fever. He told me his throat hurts when he swallows:( Poor Piper is suppose to be here day after tomorrow and our house is full of germs!! I'm praying God will heal us all soon! On a lighter note... Cam was talking to his mom yesterday to tell her we weren't coming over for lunch and he said, "Yea, Jenny is not feeling well, she's got the sniffles". SNIFFLES, WHAT??? I feel like I'm on my death bed so hearing that I've just got the sniffles made me feel much better (insert sarcasm). I've teased him about it quite a bit:)
We've had such a busy day, full of fun and sun. We set up the bounce house for the boys to play in and they seriously played with that thing for well over 4 hours today. Cam and I worked on a flower bed. Well, Cam actually did all the work on preparing and building the bed, but I planted the flowers:) I also helped the boys find dozens of worms in the dirt we were using... needless to say we ALL needed a bath! Only 4 days til Piper comes:)
I'm sO SlEePy!!! God is definitely preparing me for baby Piper. I haven't really slept over 3 hours a night for the past 3 weeks. Obviously I'm not sleeping because my belly is so big, it's hard to get comfortable. Also, horrible indigestion and I'm battling a sore throat and an earache:( My sweetest reason I'm not getting to sleep has to do with my widdle boys:) Andrew always comes in to snuggle early in the morning, around 4:00 or so. Well, this morning, he brought a friend. I saw Andrew's head bobbing in the dark and then a shorter version bobbing behind him. Yep, it was Parker (Tar Tar). Andrew climbed up on one side and Parker climbed up on the other side of me. We noticed Parker's pj's were wet so Cam took him to get some new ones and he was sleepy enough that he didn't mind getting back in his own bed. While Cam was with Parker, I asked Andrew why Parker came with him (it was the first time this had happened). He said, "Oh, I woke him up and told him he could come with me to sleep with mommy:)". How sweet... of course it wasn't too sweet that early in the morning but I can just imagine Andrew waking up Parker to come snuggle mommy.
We celebrated Earth day today at the Jr. High by raising money for the Rain Forest. The students had to pay $1.00 for a yard of duct tape to tape our Assistant Principal to the wall:) He was a good sport and stayed up for well over an hour. When they moved the crates, he didn't last long at all. I went to the doc today and she set April 30th for the day we'll induce labor:) Anna and I had to pull some strings to be in the hospital at the same time:) she's scheduled to have a c-section on the 29th. We're planning a big American Idol watch party:) On a sad note:( I took Andrew to Kindergarten Registration tonight. He was beaming with pride:) He's sooooo excited about starting school. I'm sure I'll have to be put on some heavy medication to take him to that first day...
It is such a beautiful day outside. I think the high is going to be in the mid 70's. We all played and hung out in the backyard. Andrew enjoyed throwing his fishing pole and he's quite good at it. It has a clothes pin on the end so it gets stuck on the grass and he acts like he's reeling in a big bass or crappie:). Parker had fun drawing with chalk and making funny faces:). Cam and I are going out tonight while his mom watches the boys. Our dates usually consist of going out to eat, shopping at Wal-Mart or Target:) and then having dessert at the San Francisco Bread Company. They have great cheese cakes:). **(Is it possible to use too many smiley :) faces in one post?)**
I was looking through some older pics I have stored in iPhoto and came across these. The boys have both grown up soooo much!! I love going back to look at the pictures, the boys like to look at them, too:) I'm sure Andrew is going to dislike me for the speedo picture:) but I couldn't resist. Also... BEWARE, I've had a couple of comments left on some post trying to give me a virus. It says something like, Attention, see here and if you click on the word here, it tries to give you a virus. Thankfully I have a Mac but be careful...
I came across a blog where the lady is trying a new dish everyday from her crock pot. It's sooo cool (her link is on my list of blogs that I read). Tonight we had the Korean Ribs. It's super easy to cook. We used baby back ribs, 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1/2 brown sugar, 1 cup of water and 3 jalepeno peppers. I cooked them for about 8 hours on low.
I remember how emotional I was when I was pregnant with Parker. I know this sounds crazy, but I was sooo sad for Andrew to have to share his mommy. I knew I would love the new baby, we didn't know if Parker was a boy or a girl, but I just loved Andrew so much and he was only 17 months old. I hated to turn his world upside down. Well, shortly after having Parker, I realized just what a gift he was to Andrew, not to mention what a gift he has been to me and Cam. I can't imagine life without Andrew and Parker being together. They are best friends:) So now after witnessing their relationship, I'm sooo excited about little Piper joining the crew. I can't wait to see Parker become a big brother. He is sooo happy about getting a little sister. I already know Andrew is a perfect big brother, so it'll be such a blessing to see him interact with Piper, too.
We bought this really nifty diaper sprayer to use since we'll be cloth diapering:) It's awesome. It will also come in handy when we rinse out the small potty Parker still uses. We also have all of our cloth diapers. We have 18 total and half of them were given to us as gifts:) so we actually spent less than $150.00 total on diapers. I showed them to my principal, who has an 8 month old little girl, and she bought some and is using them now with her baby:) She loves them!!
I went to the doc today and she said she may induce April 28th. If not that day, then definitely that week. She's hoping to induce so Piper won't be so big when she's born. Both the boys were a week early and they were 8 lb 10oz and 8 lb 13 oz, so we're hoping Piper won't be bigger than they were (Good luck with that, especially since I gained 3.5 pounds in less than 2 weeks:) The doc has already said several times that she's definitely a chunky baby. My friend Anna will probably be induced around the same time so maybe we can visit each other's room:)
Okay, so I had to hurry and post again to bump the last post down a bit:) What were we thinking?? Anyway, I thought I'd post a couple of cute things the boys have said this week....
Our babysitter Mindy said the other day that Andrew told her he liked shrimp. She was a little surprised and asked, "How do you eat your shrimp?" He said, "Well, I take all of the crunchy part off and then eat the chicken":)
Andrew asked me today if God wore a purple shirt:)
The other night Parker got out of bed and came in the living room and said, "Andrew has to go to the bathroom". Cameron went in and asked, "Andrew, do you have to go to the bathroom?" Andrew said, "NO". Parker said, "Well, he's been tooting and it STINKS". While shutting the door Cam said, "It'll go away in a minute", Parker said, "What will go away in a minute?" Cam said, "THE STINK"....
Yesterday I was telling Cameron how I needed to update the blog because it had been a week and my hundreds:) of readers were probably wondering where I had been. He asked what would I blog about and I said, "surely I can come up with something" he then reminded me of something I had almost lost sight of, he said, "Jenny, don't cheapen the blog". Wow.... I hadn't even realized that's exactly what I was about to do. I mean, this blog is my responsibility to spread love, hope and inspiration to others. What was I thinking? I'm so glad he stopped me. I am glad to say that tonight after watching American Idol Gives Back, I now have something worthy to blog about. Cameron and I wanted to leave something with you in hopes to inspire us all to GIVE BACK....
So not everyone thinks bathroom humor is funny but I'm sure all mommies of little boys can appreciate it:) Andrew has been potty trained for a couple of years but still needed help wiping, he also needed to start pottying on the big potty instead of the wee one. Over the past few weeks, he's been doing both really well. He now goes into the bathroom and uses it, wipes himself and even washes his hands:). The other night I heard him holler from the bathroom, "WOW!!! Come look at how HUGE my poo poo is". Of course, I couldn't let him down so I went and looked and sure enough it was gigantic. He told me, "Don't flush it, I want Parker to see". When Parker came to the bathroom, Andrew said "Look at that huge pickle", which totally confused Parker, he said, "Is it really a pickle?" After they gawked at it for a minute or so they flushed it and Andrew came running and told me, "MOM... it couldn't fit down the toilet, it had to fold like this (hand motions) to get down the toilet". He was so proud:)
I am married to a wonderful man named Cameron. We love to laugh and do so often! We have 3 children who bring us more joy than we could've imagined. We're currently in the process of adopting a little girl from Ethiopia. We cannot wait to bring her home!
