Kroger Deals

Okay, I know some of you could care less about my Kroger steals BUT I'm excited about them so I'm posting them;). The super exciting part is that the Grocery Game doesn't even list the deals until Saturday night and here it is Wednesday and I've already got some great deals! They're selling Quaker cereal for 4 for $10.00 but they give you an extra $4.00 back at the register when you purchase 4, so it's really 4 for $6.00. I had 4 coupons for $1.00 off the Life Maple and Brown Sugar (good stuff:) and was able to get 4 boxes for $2.00. I got a total of 8 boxes for $8.00. I know, I know.. WHAT am I going to do with 8 boxes of cereal? We go through it pretty fast! AND it's the healthy kind of cereal so we have it for snacks a lot AND at $1.00 a box, who would pass that up?
Here's a picture of all the stuff I got for just $40.00. I saved over 50%. I would've saved more but there were about 6 items I bought at full price. We didn't have a coupon, they weren't on sale and we just had to get them. I'll be honest... I really didn't want to buy them because I knew they would bring down my total savings at the bottom of the receipt;o).

Items bought that were on sale and I had coupons for:
1 Package of Huggies diapers (gift for someone)
4 boxes Life Oatmeal Squares with a hint of brown sugar;)
4 boxes Life Maple and Brown Sugar
2 jars of Peter Pan Peanut Butter
2 -4 count Snack Pack Pudding cups
3 jars of Organic Baby Food (it was on close out price and I had a $0.75 coupon for 3)

Things I bought that were not on sale:
Milk
Clean Team wipes
Clean Team refills
Gogurt
2 cases of Roaring water juice boxes
Eggs

Spring Break '09

We've had a great Spring Break so far. Cam took off this week, too. We had a great time with my dear friend (and old roomie) Lanna and her family. They were kind enough to ask us to stay the night since we were going to visit the Memphis Zoo. Lanna and her little girl, Brianna, went with us. The kids had a great time together. Parker and Brianna were so sweet together! We had a blast!! The Memphis Zoo is awesome! We were there for hours and still didn't see everything. We'll definitely have to go back soon. Oh and let me apologize in advance to all of you who were expecting animal pics since we went to the zoo.... I always just think the kids are so much cuter than the animals;)!

Out and About

We've been enjoying some of the nice Spring weather. Last week we enjoyed kite flying, bike riding and a day at the park.

Prayer Request

My Aunt Patty found out this weekend she has ALS (Lou Gherig's disease). She is in her late 50's/early 60's. Please pray that God will comfort her in these days of uncertainty. Patty is as sweet as she can be. She's the "aunt" that always wants you to sit on her lap and tell her all about what's been going on. She's always been so generous with compliments and she's very heartfelt. Please remember her and her family in your prayers. I also have another request for an old student, we'll call him Bob. I think God is working in his life SO much right now and Bob is SO resistant. He was a student of mine a few years ago and was really like a son. I am definitely the one he goes to for ups and downs. My heart has been broken for him over and over again because of his circumstances. He has always been so curious about God and my relationship with God. I bought him a Bible a couple of years ago and he actually called me one morning at about 3:00 am to bombard me with questions about salvation. Things are pretty crummy in his life most of the time and he's having a hard time believing God would allow him to go through all of it. My last text to him was words to the My Savior Loves, My Savior Lives, the part that says... He who lives to be my King once died to be my Savior. Please pray with me that God will open his eyes to the truth in those words. My prayer is that he will realize we're created for God's glory ONLY and are not created to have a cushy life.

I saved 70% on my car insurance:)

Okay, just kidding BUT I did save 70% tonight on my groceries:)!! I'm still learning but am getting the hang of it. Tonight I bought all of these things below for just over $13.00! The great thing is they are things I would've bought already.

Check out the cute outfit I got for Piper at JC Penney. They had a $10.00 off $10.00 on their online orders so I only had to pay shipping! She looks SO cute in purple with her red hair:). Heck she looks cute in any color with that RED hair!

Off to take a bath in our new tub:)!!

Coupons 101

So I am just learning about coupons. I mean REALLY learning. Thanks to Niki! :)
Unfortunately I've learned a little bit about coupons the hard way:(... yesterday I went to Walgreens and bought 4 packs of coke (4 for $13 plus $3 back in Register Rewards). Well, who knew you couldn't use a register reward to pay for any of the total and still EARN a register reward! Ugghhhh... he didn't give me my $3 I had EARNED! Geesh!
But I am getting $28.60 back in rebates for buying 3 packages of batteries, 1 bottle of All (with coupon:), and $20.00 of Palmers chocolate. I know that's A LOT of chocolate but Cameron LOVES Palmers and I figured those bunnies could go a LONG way for the boys treats.
I've also learned that you need to get to the sales ASAP! Brother... how disappointing is it to go all pumped to get free stuff only to find the shelves empty:(.
Oh and just in case your wondering... in our area Kroger doubles coupons up to $.60 everyday, Freds doubles coupons up to $.70 on Saturday and Greenbrier Super Center doubles coupons up to $.50 everyday.

Sweet moments from our home...
Andrew was in the car the other day and said, "Rich doesn't mean you have a lot of money... it means you have a lot of love and that you love people and God and Jesus". Sweet nuggets of truth from a 5 year old.

Sweet McKinley

God has been so good to me to let me hear from my old students. Lamar, the student who called me a few weeks ago ran into McKinley the next week. Oh goodness... if you could all meet McKinley. God has made him so special. He's as simple as can be and such an amazing ball of sunshine! The three years I taught McKinley he begged me to be his momma! He was a foster child and always wanted me to become his foster parent:). I just LOVE that kid!! I have so many memories of him being in my class. His house actually burned down and we raised money for him to get new clothes. I actually got to check him out to take him on a personal field trip. It was a day I'll never forget! He's called me several times over the past week and I've enjoyed each visit. He's talked to Cameron a few times, too. He's still living with his foster family, which really you could just call his family. They've been so good to McKinley. He told me that he's tried to find me and get a hold of me for so many years. He said, "Every time those magazines came out of people going to parties and things I'd always say ... is that Ms. Glover?" When he first called me last week we were getting off the phone and he said "bye Ms. Glover", I said "bye McKinley"... I was just about to hang up and he said, "I love you Ms. Glover" I said "I love you, too McKinley":). Really, really I wish you all could meet McKinley and see life through his eyes. Cam and I are hoping to go pick him up sometime and take him out to eat. I can't wait to see him again!

Who knew it could be so much fun?

Our family has been bit with the COUPON bug:). I've been learning a lot from my cousin-in-law Niki. You must visit her blog. Just look to the right and you'll find her on my blog roll. She's the DRS blog (Donna Reed Syndrome). She's always full of great deals, wonderful recipes and everything else you need to become Donna Reed;). Tonight we loaded up and tried to bank in on some deals at Walgreens. The boys got a dollar out of their banks and had a $0.39 coupon each for a Palmer's Easter bunny. We didn't buy much and ONLY bought what we had coupons for. I did learn that I'll have to make this trip either Friday or Saturday because many of the deals I was going for were out of stock! Thanks Niki!!! I'm sure your cheap little fingers were all over those shelves!
The boys were adorable using their coupons and money to pay for their purchases. The cashiers got a kick out of them. After Andrew finished paying, he ran to Parker's register and said, "Look what I got... and he paid me money to buy it":). He was of course speaking of the change that he got:) but there are times that they DO pay you money to buy things!! How EXCITING is that? My cousin Amy and I seriously may need help with our new obsession of saving money! :)

We're making progress

Here are some pictures of our add on room/bath. It's moving right along. Our siding guy is almost finished. Our electrician and plumber is coming this weekend and our carpet will be laid sometime next week. Then we'll be ready to move in:). We're all super excited and definitely READY! Our house has been a permanent wreck since this process started.

Our bedroom has 3 gray walls and 1 red. Our bed and stuff will sit against the red wall. We are also repainting the kitchen the same color red.
Our bathroom is mostly gray with one blue wall. The tub will have navy blend mosaic glass tiles on the 6 inches on either side of the tub and the 1 inch in front of the tub.

Snap Shots

I took some pictures of Piper yesterday. I wanted to get a couple cute shots of her SWEET thumb sucking! Maybe I'm obsessed with this but our boys never sucked their thumbs and it is just TOO much when Sissy does it!
Put that big BOW back on girl!
