Diaper Discounts:)

So I've been researching for MONTHS about cloth diapering and really, really want to do this with Piper, especially while we're at home. I think I've picked the diaper that I want to use Bum Genius 3.0 but they're really expensive (actually all of them are) but it makes me feel better when I think of what we're saving in the long run.
Since I'm sooo cheap I've really been trying to find a way to pay less for these diapers and have found a great discount. If you're a new customer at diapers.com and spend $25.00 then you get $10.00 off using the coupon code GoCityKids. Also, if you spend $50.00 you get free shipping. So the bum genius diapers are $18.00 each. I bought 3 of them and got $10.00 off and free shipping:) so it brought the diapers down to about $14.50 a diaper. I'm going to ask mom and Cam's mom to log on and buy some so they can get the same deal!!:) I'm hoping to accumulate about 20 cloth diapers. Oh by the way, the diapers are one size fits all, they have these super cool snap things that make them fit 7-35 lbs.

What color did you get?

"Customers have great results washing on cold with detergent first, then two hot or warm washes with no detergent."

So that means you have to effectively do 3 loads of diapers to get 1 clean load? My goodness. Good luck. I'll be keeping an eye out for updates as to how it is going.

It mentions using no additive detergent. We've been wondering about that in general. Do/Did you use Dreft (or something similar) for Andrew and Parker's clothes?

No, I never used Dreft or anything and we never had problems. I've been corresponding with several cloth diaper moms and they've given me a lot of tips that won't make it too troublesome. I think we'll be able to get away with one washing without any problem. I do despise laundry but not this type. I never mind doing a load of towels and things because there's no hanging up and sorting. And however gross this may sound:) you wouldn't believe the market for used cloth diapers. So I'm hoping to eventually sell them to get a little $ back.

my brother jeremy and his wife use cloth diapers. they love them! i don't remember their brand, but i remember them being pricey too. but it's worth it. they even use them when they travel. they are very dedicated! once they worked out their system it's fine. how exciting!!

Thanks for the comment Amanda:) pretty much everyone thinks I'm nuts so it gets a little discouraging but I think once we get in a system, it will be great!

hey, i think you can use them to windex with when you are done :). we use cloth diapers or burp rags or something. but, selling them would probably be more profitable. i will have to check out the coupons.

I really have been thinking about going to cloth diapers too. We are looking at trying gdiapers. Have you heard anything about them?

gdiapers seem to be super cool and what I've read is pretty good... the only thing is that they seem to be just as expensive as disposable diapers. I think they're a great healthy alternative for the baby and earth though:)

I have not cloth diapered my Piper or Nola because I'm not that "brave". But, I do think I might venture out when #3 comes....someday.

found your blog through Anna's, my stepmom used them with my sister, I hated washing them...but I was 13:) I think you will do great with them, I admire your energy to try. Piper's room looks so cozy and cute, can I sleep there?!

I am so intrigued by the cloth diaper concept. Honestly, it has never crossed my mind as something to do...but NOW I am really interested in learning more about it. It is a little too late with Jane since she is about ready to potty train...but I think I might really consider it with the next baby...whenever that might be. I will be interested to see what you think about it after trying it for a few months.
